Gary M. Ross, D.O. has been a leading family practice provider in Maine for over 30 years, and has been recognized countless times for professionalism and patient satisfaction.

Dear Brewer Health Center Community,

I am writing as a follow up to my letter in January. Most of you are aware of the changes coming in July, and I am thankful for your understanding of why I am changing my practice as well as how it benefits you.

My change to DPC Care is part of a nationwide movement, created by doctors. Doctors like me throughout the country are interested in taking back medicine from the Insurers and others who want to diminish the doctor-patient relationship. DPC Care restores the control of care to the doctor and his/her patient. These days, the many layers involved in the old model of care just make it more difficult than ever to get what you need.

For the annual fee, the DPC model allows for simple issues may be resolvable by phone, email or computer—without coming to the office. When the office visit is the best option, you will have choice times and all the time you need to get your questions answered.

To ensure this higher level of care, I will be limiting the size of my practice. We will be reducing our patients from 2000 to about 300. Being smaller allows more time to discuss and address your unique needs. This reduced practice will also ensure I have more time to advocate for your needs, from the system, to tests, to medications, to new treatments. Care will be 100% personalized, more comprehensive, and will be less expensive over time.

The office will be non-chaotic and you will not feel rushed. My smaller staff will become direct extensions of me; you will be able to directly talk to them to find out status of referrals, testing, medication, etc. Your insurance outside of my office will work exactly as it always has. Referrals and testing will be arranged by us; there are no additional forms or costs that you must worry about.

For those who wish to stay, but do not want to participate in the subscription model, you can continue to see me with the pay-as–you-go option. There will be an annual fee for this and office visit payments at time of service. NONE of the benefits of the DPC subscription care are part of the “pay as you go” plan. The office visit will be where most of your care is accomplished and as such you will be expected to come in to receive this care.

To sign up, follow the link at the bottom of this letter, or come in and sign up with Janet. I have also enclosed a form that you can return with a method of payment and we can sign up for you. I am also resending the costs and some commonly asked questions for you to review

To help with the cost structure, I have made available a monthly payment option which you can select when you register.

Please, do not hesitate to come in and talk with myself or Janet if you have additional questions. These changes can be confusing and we will guide you through this. As of July 1st you will have to be registered to receive care (this includes medication refills) from me.  I am really excited about  these changes and the chance to continue to care for you in the way you deserve.

In good health,
